Ben Stiller has signed onto direct 20th Century Fox’s upcoming horror film ‘The Mountain,’ Deadline is reporting. The movie, which was written by Helen Childress, who also scripted Stiller’s 1994 directorial debut ‘Reality Bites,’ is based on characters from the Edith Wharton novel ‘Summer.’
‘The Mountain,’ which is being produced by Stiller and his Red Hour partner Stuart Cornfeld, will be set in the 1900s. It follows a young woman who struggles to confront her destiny after she discovers a mysterious object that forces her to examine her past. The tone of the film is said to be similar to ‘Rosemary’s Baby.’
