Man High on Drugs Put 'Hyper' Cat in Bong to Calm Her Down

A Nebraska man has been cited with a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge, paid a $400 fine and faces drug charges for stuffing his “hyper” cat into his boxlike homemade bong.
The sheriff’s deputies in Lancaster County responded to a domestic disturbance call after Acea Schomaker’s neighbors claimed they saw the 20-year-old smoking marijuana through a piece of garden hose that was attached to a duct-taped, plastic glass box. Schomaker told the deputies that he put her into the 12 inch-by 6 inch box to calm his 6-month-old cat Shadow.
When the cat was discovered, she was in a daze, according to police. She was then wrapped in a blanket and put on the front seat of a cop car, and “never moved all the way to the humane society,” said Sgt. Andy Stebbing. After Shadow was examined at the Capital Humane Society, executive director Bob Downey said she was timid but in good condition.
