Breaking Dawn Could Possibly Begin Filming this Fall

The movie version of Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in the wildly popular Twilight Saga series, could possibly start shooting in Vancouver this fall, franchise producer Wyck Godfrey told The Los Angeles Times.

However, the franchise’s distributor, Summit Entertainment, has been unsure how to proceed with filming Breaking Dawn, as the book focuses on the birth of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan’s daughter, Renesmee. The child is born half-vampire, half-human, and quickly grows, both physically and mentally. Godfrey told the newspaper that the creative team still doesn’t know how they’ll handle the character, as Renesmee to life is going to be one of the movie’s biggest challenges. “It’s certainly going to be visual effects in some capacity along with an actor. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being a full CG creation, but it also may be a human shot on a soundstage that then is used to shrink down.”

Touching on the question of whether to shoot one or two films based on the book, “The issue is not going to be resolved until we get the full treatment and see whether it’s organic,” said Godfrey, adding “It really has to do with how much level of detail from the books there is.” He also said that Summit hasn’t signed a director yet, as the company is looking for someone who will be able to handle “the emotions and the intensity of the love story,” as well as the action and visual effects.
