Octumom's first post-birth interview with the Today show's Ann Curry

In her first interview since giving birth to octuplets, Nadya Suleman, the California mom of 14, spoke with the Today show's Ann Curry. During the interivew, Suleman told Curry that she used the same friend for all 14 children, who were all conceived IVF.

When Curry asked Suleman how she, an only child, ended up with so many children, Suleman said that it was always a dream of hers to have a large family. "I just longed for certain connections and attachments with another person that I really lacked, I believe, growing up."

Suleman further went on to tell Curry that she felt she lacked a feeling of self and identity. "I didn't feels as though, when I was a child, I had much control of my enviornment. I felt powerless. And that gave me a sense of perdictability. Reflecting back on my childhood, I know ti wasn't functional. It was pretty dysfunctionial, and whose isn't?"

Curry seemed to be the perfect choice for Suleman's first post-birth interview, as Curry has cultivaed a reputation in tv news as a multi-birth specialist. For example, she interviewed the Chandler quintuplets last spring, and became one of TV's most viable reporters when she covered the McCaughey septuplet story more than 10 years ago.
