American Chopper Canceled by TLC
‘American Chopper,’ the popular TLC reality series, has been placed on the chopping board, TMZ is reporting. The cable network officially confirmed on February 8 that the reality show has been cancelled, and will air its final episode on Thursday, February 11.
The show, which debuted on TLC’s sister channel the Discovery Channel in 2003, focuses on the business at the Orange County Choppers’ bike shop. It later moved to TLC in 2007, and has run for six seasons, during which two video games were released and a short-lived parody show on Comedy Central was launched.
The shop is run by Paul Teutul, Sr. and his two sons, Michael and Paulie Jr. However, Paulie was fired at the beginning of the current season, as he engaged in disagreements with his family. For instance, TMZ reported this past December that Paul sued Paulie for over $1 million in stock options.
Still, the show helped promote Orange County Choppers over the years. Some of the most well-known customers to frequent the shop and order custom designed motorcycles were such actors as Russell Crowe, Bill Murray and Will Smith.
