Sandra Bullock Adopts a Son, Files for Divorce


While Sandra Bullock’s personal life took a turn for the worst earlier this year after numerous women claimed to have had affairs with her husband Jesse James, the Oscar winner confirmed to PEOPLE that she has adopted a son. Bullock appears on the April 28 issue of the magazine with her 3-and-a-half month old son, Louis Bardo Bullock, who she adopted from New Orleans right after he was born in January.

‘The Blind Side’ actress decided to keep the adoption a secret from even her friends until after the Academy Awards. She said that “I did not want him brought into a world that would not have been too sincere to him as I wanted. I wanted to be alone with him as long as I could then we had to tell his story.”

Bullock also confirmed to the magazine that she has filed for divorce from her estranged husband, who she separated from days after her Oscar win. She added she is sad and scared about the process. In response to the divorce, James told PEOPLE that he has a huge hole in his heart. He added that Bullock’s decision to adopt Louis as a single mother has also been hard. “The love I have for Louis cannot be put to words. Not having him around to love and to hold has left a huge hole in my heart,” he added.

After James’ alleged affairs surfaced, Bullock quickly moved out of the home the two shared together, and has stayed out of the spotlight. This is only the second time she has made a public comment since the separation, the first being a statement denying they had made a sex tape.
